There are many fence options out there. Which one is right for you? Do you need a fence to keep out the peeping Toms or do you want to keep your pets from roaming the street? If you are having a hard time deciding between a security fence or a privacy fence, here is a bit of info to ease this decision process.

Security Fence

Security fences mainly serve to prevent unwanted people or animals from entering your property. There are many different shapes and sizes to compliment the look of your home. If you own a farm, many farmers use security fences to contain their horses. Also, many pool owners install a security fence around their pools so young children cannot enter without supervision.

Security fences need to be able to hold their ground. They are typically made from sturdy materials like vinyl or aluminum. Many people add sharp points on the top of the fence, making it difficult to climb.

Privacy Fence

Just as the name states, privacy fences offer privacy to your home from the neighbors and the public. These fences are also a great way to strictly establish your property line.

Unlike security fences, privacy fences are typically made of wood, vinyl, or metal. Most privacy fences are usually solid, without gaps allowing for gazing through.  If done correctly, privacy fences can make your property more visually pleasing. If you like the look of trailing plants, using a trellis fence that plants can blossom on will also provide privacy.
